Scene of the Crime

A two-day seminar held in the Czech Republic with the aim of exploring creative responses to racism in football as well as building networks and creating ties between football fans and groups committed to fighting discrimination in the game.

Organised by the Multicultural Centre Prague as part of the anti-discrimination campaign in 2007 supported by the European Commission.

Wednesday April 25th

3pm Opening Plenary
Explanation of the purpose and aims of the seminar

3.30pm The European Problem of Racism in Football
Presentation: An historical overview and update on the current situation across the continent, highlighting hotspots and areas of concern.

4:15pm The Polish Situation

5pm Skinheads and Hooligans
Links between the far-right and football

5:45pm Czech Situation
Title to be confirmed

7pm Evening Meal

Thursday April 26th
10am The Romanian Situation
Title to be confirmed

10:45am Tatort Stadiom
Presentation of creative strategies which have been employed against racism in football

11:30am Introduction to the Working Groups

12pm Working Group Session 1
Splitting in two groups the participants will constructively debate the following topics: Formal versus informal solutions and International Cooperation

1pm Lunch

2pm Continuation of Working Group Session 1

2:30pm Presentation of Results 1
The separated groups will present back their findings to the participants.

3pm Working Group Session 2
Splitting in two groups the participants will constructively debate the following topics: Who to approach? The extreme or the accepting majority? and Approaching Clubs and Organised Fan Groups

4:30pm Presentation of Results 2
The separated groups will present back their findings to the participants.

5-6pm Final Plenary and Discussion
The chance for final debate and discussion about the topics covered during the two-days and hopefully the formation of future plans and cooperation.

7pm Evening Meal

The seminar, all food and one night of accommodation can be paid for, however funded places are limited. Registration is required. All participants are expected to contribute to the working seminar in a constructive and open minded manner.
