Anna Sevortian is an expert on civil society development, media freedom and human rights in Russia. Currently she is the Deputy Director of the Center for the Development of Democracy and Human Rights (Moscow, Russia) where she has been leading a series of educational and activists efforts in the field of migration and combating xenophobia. She has been involved in a number of civil society and human rights initiatives by different national and international institutions.
In 2007-2008 Anna received a Chevening Award for conducting a research project ‘Russian NGOs and their relationship with the state, 1995-2007: Identifying models and mechanisms for the retention of independence’. In 2007-2008 she was a Visiting Fellow at the Centre of International Studies, University of Cambridge, and an Affiliated Researcher at School of Public Policy, University College London. Her research interests are currently focused at the state and non-state actors’ relations and channels of political communication in emerging democracies.
Center for the Development of Democracy and Human Rights is a Russian independent non-governmental organization.
