Exhibition 'Documentary Photography and Discrimination'

The exhibition is being held from Thursday, 1 November to Friday, 30 November 2007 in Pratur, Vodickova 32 arcade within the framework of the festival Dialogue of Cultures 2007 (Week of Equality).


The photographs come from the Photographer´s Award; competition, which was realised within the framework of the “Campaign in Support of Equal Opportunities for All in Czech republic” and was opened for professional as well as amateur photographers. Photographers submited series of six to ten photographs on the issue of discrimination and diversity, thinking about this issue along the lines of racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, age, gender, disability or sexual orientation in Czech republic.

The exhibition is accessible for the wider public, highlight problems and themes that many people don’t usually like to think about and help to raise public awareness about the issue of diversity and dicrimination in Czech society. We want to provide high value of testimony of photographs and the ability to tackle the common clichés and prejudices that exist in our society.

The exhibition is supported by the European Comission, the Czech Government and the Prague 1 Municipality.
