About the library
The library of the Multicultural Center Prague provides information about multicultural coexistence in the Czech Republic and abroad. It is open to both experts and the general public.
Our library collects contemporary books, audiovisual materials and periodicals from the Czech Republic and abroad covering the following topics:
- Religions and mythology
- Intercultural relations
- Legislation (fundamental human rights and rights of minorities)
- Political aspects of multiculturalism
- Nationalities and states (national identity and nationalism, international relations)
- Migration and refugees
- Women and gender
- Minorities in the Czech Republic (the Czechs, Roma, Germans, Poles, Slovaks and others)
- Anthropology, ethnology, ethnography (cultural, linguistic, physical, philosophical, social and urban anthropology, ethnomusicology and race)
- Sociology
- Multicultural education
- Diversity Mangement
- Media and minorities
- Multicultural fiction, Comics
- Multicultural librarianship
- Development and development education
Most of our books are in Czech and English but we also have books in the Roma, Slovak German, Spanish and other languages. We monitor Czech press using key words such as foreigners and refugees and make the relevant articles available electronically and also have films, research studies and survey results. Today, the library has around 2,400 books and you can browse its catalogue online. You can loan books or read them in the library and also use other services.
